We are conscious that our communities are saturated of bad news.  The families disintegrate, the youths are lost in gangs, drogadiccion, when we have an element very near us THE ART

All sectors of the population agree on the importance of arts in education. An important step in that direction is being taken by Growing Together/CreciendoJuntos, Inc. an Illinois, not for profit organization and The Olympic Theatre, an emblematic arts center in Cicero. Both institutions are crating an opportunity for talented young people called AMERICA’S TALENT CONTEST.

The contest offers a scholarship prize of  $5,000 for the first place. The event will be held at the Olympic Theatre, 6134 W. Cermak Rd in Cicero, IL. Support organizations include The Smithsonian Institute, Urban Gateways, the Old Town School of Folk Music, Latin Street Dancing and Productions USA. , as well as by many educators and artists in Illinois.

Dancing and singing will be the two competition forms: Soloists, duets, trios or music bands with a maximum of 8 members and dance groups limited to no more than 8 dancers. Accompaniment for participation will be self-provided by each contestant. A single non-refundable registration fee of $15 will cover the cost of the theater, audition and publicity

Auditions will start March 14. Contestants can pre-register by calling 312-259-3785. Each contestant will have 5 minutes to present their number plus an allotment of 5 minutes for set-up if needed.

The actual contest for four weeks will begin on April 17 and finale by May 15th. Professional artists will serve as entertainment for the program. The jury will be composed of a teacher, a local artist and a local public figure.

The jury vote will account for 50% of the decision and 50% created by an audience applaud–o-meter accounting for audience participation
